Thames Gateway Forum Dinner at Building 1000 Sold Out

The Thames Gateway Forum dinner was held at Building 1000, the Royals Business Park on the 24th November 2004 and was sold out within a matter of weeks and a month prior to the event. The dinner was a huge success with 1000 people in attendance and attracting over 50 companies from a mixture of private and public backgrounds.

Guests assembled for a pre-dinner drinks reception, sponsored by Knight Frank, in the Winter Garden. The dinner, sponsored by United Utilities, was served on the fourth floor with fabulous views over London City Airport and Canary Wharf. A charity auction followed in aid of Richard House Children’s Hospice, which provides respite and terminal care for children and young people who are not expected to live into adulthood.

Building 1000, the £70m landmark first phase of the Royals Business Park, jointly developed by Development Securities PLC, Standard Life Investments and the London Development Agency completed in Summer 2004.

Designed by Aukett, the speculative development consists of two high specification glass and steel buildings, totaling 237,000 sq ft. These are linked by a spectacular Winter Garden overlooking the Royal Albert Dock and London City Airport. Building 1000 was completed in just 73 weeks by Bowmer & Kirkland, using a special Australian ‘strong force’ system not widely seen in the UK, and large scale prefabrication.

When completed, the 50-acre site will be London’s largest urban park with 1.6m sq ft of offices and 100,000 sq ft of retail and leisure, extensive landscaping and public spaces.
